My 5 current favourite beauty products

3/3/2020

Working in the beauty industry means I’m always getting asked ‘what do you use for this’ ‘what do you use for that’ and I love that people feel my advice is valuable. So here are my 5 current favourite beauty products, why I love them and where to buy them!

I recently purchased the Exfoliating Polish from ZO Skin Health. ZO is a medical grade of skin care developed by world renowned dermatologist Dr Zein Obagi. So the products are designed to get results. The Exfoliating Polish gives a gentle exfoliation using magnesium crystals and leaves a smooth finish with a healthy glow. I’ve found since using it that my make up goes on so smoothly and the texture of my skin over the past 2 months has improved dramatically.

A little goes a long way with the Exfoliating Polish so you real feel that you’re getting a lot for your money. I use mine 3 times a week after cleansing and apply it to damp skin. I massage in to my face and neck concentrating on any areas I feel are a little dry or flaky and rinse with warm water.

I came across the brand milk_shake at my local beauty wholesaler and had been in search for a good leave in conditioner. I’ve never found a wash out conditioner that I feel works with my hair and always preferred leave in conditioners. The whole milk_shake range uses milk proteins to strengthen the hair structure, with this leave in conditioner also having honey and fruit extracts in to revitalise and leave my hair lovely and shiny. It also has an ingredient called Integrity 41 which protects the hair from UV and maintains colour, so it’s great for taking on your summer holiday.

I spray it on to my towel dried hair before brushing as its great for detangling. It smells absolutely incredible, like a yummy vanilla milkshake. The condition of my hair has improved substantially since I began using it.

My go to foundation is Revolutions Conceal & Hydrate Foundation. I have tried a few other high end foundations in the last 6 months but none compare to the finish and price tag of this one. It gives a medium to full coverage without looking ‘caked’ and doesn’t dry my skin out. It stays put all day, even with wearing face masks for work.

I apply a pump to each cheek and my forehead and half a pump to nose and chin. I then blend across my face and onto my neck using a beauty blender. I add more using my beauty blender to build if I’m wanting fuller coverage.

My first ever purchase from Rituals and definitely one of my favourites has to be the Body Cream from The Ritual of Holi Collection. It’s ingredients of flamingo flower, known for soothing and purifying, and pink grapefruit, great for refreshing and clarifying, give a beautiful scent that lasts hours after application. The Ritual of Holi Collection is based on the ancient Indian tradition used to celebrate spring and inspire forgiveness by throwing coloured powder at each other known as the Holi Festival of Colour. This inspiration is carried through to the packaging which looks great in my white bathroom.

I apply mine every day after the shower, applying to slightly damp skin is supposed to improve the moisturising benefits.

Being a nail technician you can imagine how much care I put into my nails. God forbid one breaks! To reduce the risk of breaks and splits as well as brittle, flaking nails I use CND’s SolarOil daily. It comes in a great little bottle with a brush in the lid for easy, on-the-go cuticle and nail hydration. Repeated use has an accumulative effect, driving the oil further into the skin and nails.

Our nails are very porous and full of tiny pockets similar to a sponge. If we fill all those tiny pockets with water our nails become rigid, more prone to breaks. If we fill all those tiny pockets with oil, not only is there no room left for water, but our nails become strong and flexible therefore more resilient to breaks.

I use mine twice a day on fingers and toes. Pop it next to your toothbrush and you won’t forget to apply it.
